Michael Linert - CEO
Michael Linert is a versatile educator, cellist, singer, and composer dedicated to enriching lives through music. As CEO of Lumiroar, he inspires musicians to “Shine Loud, Roar Bright!” and expands access to musical experiences for all. His “Multi-Level Masterpiece” arrangements are central to this mission, having partnered with over 20 organizations nationwide, including through his role as Mariachi Workshop Director with the internationally renowned Aspen Music Festival and School. Musicians who have worked with Michael have gone on to win positions with professional, regional, and youth orchestras and have been accepted into numerous universities and conservatories of music. He has served as a clinician or consultant for over 50 arts organizations.
Michael has received numerous honors for his work in education, including Teacher of the Year, the ALPHA Award, the Fred Award for Customer Service from Westminster Public Schools, the Friend of World Languages Award from the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers, the Exemplary High School Teacher Award from the American String Teachers Association, and the Arts and Culture Award from the Westminster Legacy Foundation. He was also a quarterfinalist for the Grammy Music Educator Award and has been featured on Denver’s 9News and by the Colorado Department of Education alongside the Orchestra and Mariachi musicians of Westminster High School for their inspiring work in music and community building.
As a performer, Michael has appeared in over 50 cities across the U.S., Canada, and Ecuador, premiering works by composers from China, Australia, Armenia, and the U.S. He has performed as a cellist in both Baroque and modern styles with the Stratus Chamber Orchestra, the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, and the QV Ensemble. Michael’s vocal performances include Bach's St. John Passion as alto soloist with the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, Bach’s B Minor Mass with CONCORA and the Hartford Symphony, and Handel’s Alcina and Xerxes with the Indiana University Opera Theater. He also performed with Ensemble Lipzodes at the XIV International Sacred Music Festival in Quito, Ecuador; was a member of Carnegie Hall’s Tallis Scholars’ Spem in alium Project with the Weill Music Institute; and was a featured soloist on the album NOTUS: Of Radiance & Refraction, released by Innova Recordings.
Michael’s compositions, including the score for the documentary Medic! (now part of the permanent collection of the Library of Congress American Folklore Center) and collaborations with dance companies, have been performed globally. The Aspen Music Festival and School has now commissioned 11 of Lumiroar’s “Multi-Level Masterpiece” arrangements of Mariachi standards to expand access for musicians of every level.
